Forgive the stupid question, but if you self host, or mirror your site on the dark web, is there a way for whoever your audience is to be cut off from accessing it. If they’re a normie, say, can something be tinkered with so even if they go to access your site through their google browser or whatever, it can gate keep them from navigating your site?
On the "regular internet" countries can DNS block your site, making it harder for users to access it. So even if your only intermediary is your domain name provider, there are still some extreme ways for a site to be targeted.
Specifically on darknets like Tor/I2P it's difficult for someone to know where your service is hosted from. Tor regularly suffers DDOS attacks which will slow down the entire network, but it's much harder to attack specific services. When it comes to attacking someones darknet side usually it's easier to get at them from the person side.
Very informative Gabriel. I've been thinking for so long (mostly procrastinating) of getting a desktop computer and completely removing the pre-installed Windows OS to replace it with a Linux OS. I just can't stand Windows anymore with having to tweak the Settings each and everyday to TURN OFF the Windows Update shit (which always turns back on without my consent), plus their integrated spyware. This is not safe anymore (and hasn't been for decades). I worked in computers a long long time ago and use to do these things, but am too out of it now to do it properly myself. So, I will likely get someone in town to install a Linux on it. Could you recommend a certain flavor of Linux? I had researched it last year and recall being even more confused as to which one to choose. It seemed that there were some viable ones such as Xubuntu and others (see https://linuxhint.com/best-old-laptop-linux-distributions/) but am still not sure which one is the simplest/most user friendly - as in my old age is imperative! Anyhoots, thanks for this informative post (I especially like your 'Reclaiming Territory in Cyberspace' thought on gabe.rocks. Cheers
This is something I have been thinking about. Thank you for the post, I will bookmark it. Everyone should do some form of independent publishing. The complications of doing your own website come from the need to know how to code.
It would be even better if there were a way to develop and publish on a truly free domain, I think there's one that works exclusively with the brave browser.
Great info, most of it double Dutch to me. Both needed, computer/expert and artist/writer. Like the twinning of towns, we need to team up for protection. Fascist frolics I fear, form. Fook, fake, fan. We soldier on, between the halos and horns. Regards, Phoeagdor.
Great idea for some transparency and potential for honesty. Let's hope this can become a reality if we survive the next few years of apocalypse and complete internet/power blackouts worldwide.

Ah. I think I’m getting it. Should we ask chatGPT to create a neat little chart of where and how the squeezes can happen? 😂
