I still haven’t gotten through watching all the links, but I read it and watched your presentation. When you put all of the things you’ve done in one compilation, it’s quite an impressive amount of work! I’ve had the pleasure to share some of these moments with you which has made for an incredibly fulfilling 2023. And of course, I have you to thank for me finally taking small steps towards my own digital autonomy. There’s no one else that I sun to that provides this kind of content on Substack. Practical solutions for giant tech problems that feel outside of a layman’s scope of understanding is terribly valuable.
Very nice post (super well formatted!) and video Gabriel. I discovered some new things such as Peertube which could be useful for me in the future if I start to create more video contents.
I also like your optimism and how you help promote all these solutions to empower people.
For the "facial recognition" stuff which is scary, don't forget Bill S-210 which is a Trojan horse in that it seems to want to put us all in this Digital ID / Facial Recognition enclave. Here are related posts:
I really think they will ramp these up with a big Cyber Attack which I wrote about last summer (for which you also generously helped me on the technical side). I predict this could occur as early as March. Any thoughts on it?
I look forward to more of your great posts for 2024 and having you on as a guest for my new/upcoming podcast!
Gabriel, That Cyberfreedom.ca site and idea is fantastic. Exactly what we need for our "digital freedom". This is a scarcely talked about subject but is just as important as financial (and physical) freedom, for we spend so much time online.
And your Project Beehive is my favorite! We need to opt-out of all the major Silicon Valley tech giants who are selling us out to the intel agencies and Amazons/etc. People need to learn more about these.
Oh, can you share the link to that "Facial Recognition Defense" video you mentioned in your recap? I'd like to watch it.
We can talk about these when I have you on the podcast, hopefully in January! I will send you and email momentarily to try to work out a date for it.
Happy New Year, Gabe! ✨
You too!

Have a great one my friend!
Yes! I cross-posted that story by Michael Geist when it was published. Very important story.
One of the projects I want to launch soon is a beehive (https://libresolutionsnetwork.substack.com/p/operation-beehive) to help hopefully regain ground for Canadian digital rights. I still have a lot of documentation to work on but if you want a sneak peek the site is being built at cyberfreedom.ca
